Millhaven Press seeks “Lost World” stories…

We are now accepting story proposals for our next project due out in late winter/early spring 2019.

We are seeking five story proposals of 12,000-20,000 words.

This time out we are looking for adventure stories of “lost worlds”.

We are paying tribute to Edgar Rice Burroughs, Sir Conan Arthur Doyle, H. Rider Haggard and the like…

Do you have a story idea featuring dinosaurs in the modern world? Does your story feature explorers stumbling upon a lost race of men?  Does your story feature a lost civilization at the bottom of the sea, in a long extinct volcano, in a remote jungle, or in the depths of the Earth itself?

If you have an idea with any or all the above, then send us a proposal.  If your story has none of the above, but is an adventure story with some fantasy element, give us a try.  Send us a brief story plot synopsis along with a completed writing sample (if you have had a story accepted by us in the past, there is no need for a sample).

There is no submission deadline, but once the slots are filled, that is it…

The story must be previously unpublished.

No simultaneous submissions.

Use an easily readable font, double space as a .doc or .docx and send as an e-mail attachment to:

You retain copyright and all rights associated with the story.  You grant Millhaven Press First North American Print Rights.

If accepted (we will try to respond to all proposals within two weeks), we will send our standard royalty agreement form for you to read and return to us (we can’t print the story without it).  It states you are the sole creator of the story and haven’t sold the story elsewhere.  It also will have the royalty agreement (15% of every issue sold after cost) and the payment structure (monthly payments via PayPal).

Compensation: 15% royalty (after cost) on every issue sold and one free contributor copy.

I’ve got an idea for a lost world story that’s been looking for an excuse to be written.
If you have one too, then by all means, give it a whirl!
